Committal
Madison Sierra Cannon, 24, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Born in Burke County on April 18, 2001, she was the daughter of William Glenn Cannon and Tracy Merrell Edwards.
Madison possessed many talents, including singing and playing several musical instruments. One of her favorite songs was “Dancing in the Sky,” which she sang for family and at churches. She had a loving heart and was always willing to help others in need. As a trained CNA, she used her training to help others, including her grandmother. Even in death, Madison continued to help others by being an organ donor.
In addition to her parents, those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Anthony Saunders; sister, Vanessa St. Aubin; grandmother, Glenda Cannon; grandfather, Larry Merrell (Ruth), uncle, Nathan Cannon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Madison was preceded in death by her grandmother, Harriet Merrell; and grandfather, Francis “Babe” Cannon.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral Home..
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org).
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
