People come into your life by chance and sometimes, they become life long friends. Kathleen was that for me. She was one of those people who just brightened your day every time you talked to her. Her sense of humor was so infectious. We had so many great conversations over the years and we just bonded on so many levels. My heart really hurts right now. Her daughter, Heather, was the love of her life. She always bragged about her to me. I am truly going to miss her.

My husband, Michael and I, live just down the street from Kathleen. We spoke to her frequently as we regularly walk our two dogs by her apartment. Michael was always teasing Kathleen about her little dog (since all of our dogs bark very badly!). Michael would say to her..."control your BEAST". Kathleen would burst out in gales of laughter; you could hear her laughter echoing everywhere. We never saw her in a bad mood; she always had that huge smile. I always knew I wanted to get to know her better. I thought I had the time to do that. Sadly, that is now too late. That should be a lesson for all of us....do not put off friendships. I pray that God will now eternally take care of Kathleen....until we all meet again. Most sincerely, Jeannie and Michael Hargadon, Morganton, NC

So sorry to hear about the passing of my cousin Kathleen. I remember many times as a kid visiting with her, Caroline and Michael. I especially remember the time Bruce and Milly visited me while I attended San Jose State when Kathleen was in California. My condolences to the Sheriff family.

You were one of the nicer friends of my sister Angela. Nice chatting with you before The Who concert at Giants Stadium that time. I'll attend your funeral. I live in Charlotte, NC right now. Catch you on the other side. Hope I die before I get old....

I am so sorry to hear about Kathy’s passing. We became friends in the 5th grade when she came from Memorial Elementary School in Emerson to Linwood Elementary School for 4th and 5th grade. I remember a project we teamed up on in the 5th grade. We made the solar system out of styrofoam balls. We had so much fun together. Prayers for comfort during this time.
