John “Dock” Dockery, Jr., 50, of Morganton, NC went to his Heavenly Home on October, Friday the 13th, 2023, which was only fitting since he was such a horror fanatic. He was born on October 27, 1972 to Mildred Sue Milligan Dockery and the late John Alfred Dockery. Dock was a graduate of Freedom High School. He was a cook at several of our local restaurants. He was an avid musician who went by “Dockstar.” He played in numerous local bands such as Double D Accoustics, Dilemma, Meatlfly and Malicious Mischief and many more. He loved singing and playing the guitar. Dock was an avid Cowboy fan.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Reagan Dockery; sister, Wendy Dockery Lawson (Roland); niece, Grace Lawson; and many cousins and loving friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church. There will be a memorial service for Dock at a later date.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

John you are in my thoughts and heart, I love watching videos of you playing music. I know that music and Reagan were what you loved the most. My heart aches for you and your family. Susie, Wendy, and Reagan - please know that you are in my prayers that the Lord would comfort you and heal your hearts. You all 3 are still family to me and I love you all sincerely and fervently, and if there’s anything I can do for any of you, I’m here please let me know. Love always, Kirsten
