Cindy Pendleton, 40, of Morganton, NC, gained her wings on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Born in Forsyth County, NC on March 27, 1983, she was the daughter of Terry Edwards and Joyce Poteat Edwards. Cindy was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a teacher with Burke County Public Schools for 20 years and was teaching at Mountain View Elementary School. She loved her coffee and vacationing at Myrtle Beach.
In addition to her parents, Cindy is survived by her husband, Terry Pendleton; sons, Shawn and Seth Pendleton; brother, Mike Edwards; grandmother, Mattie Poteat, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Cindy was preceded in death by her grandfather, Vernon Poteat.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2023 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Christopher Dale officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

We had the pleasure of working with Cindy at W.A. Young Elementary School. What a sweet, beautiful and talented lady. She loved her family and was so proud of her sons. Because Cindy accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, we know that she is now in His presence. The family has not lost Cindy. Only her company for now. May God's presence surround this sweet family with peace, grace, and strength.
Earth lost a True Angel!! Cindy was a very sweet, kind compassionate person!! No matter what she was enduring she always had a smile on her face!! She touched many, many lives & will be greatly missed by all especially her loving family!! Terry, Shawn, & Seth our hearts break for each of you & all of the family!! Cindy was an excellent teacher who always put children's needs first. It was a privilege to work with her in the Burke County Public Schools.

My sweet friend, I still find it hard to wrap my head around. I know you are living your best life up there. No seizures! Terry, Shawn, Seth and the rest of the family will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. You were a blessing to so many people in so many ways. There will never be another one like you!! God needed you to help make heaven more beautiful! I know he used you to touch so many people with your story! He will continue to use you.
