Anita Smith Johnson

Anita Smith Johnson, 59, of Golden Valley, NC passed away Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on December 3, 1966, she is the daughter of Martha Lou “Mott’ Miller and the late Marshal Winfred Smith.

Anita was a true Nanny, and she loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She worked as a supervisor over Creekside Cafe at Jellystone Park Camp Golden Valley.

In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory include her children, Casey Hill (Archie), Amber Belton, Storm Johnson, Chris Johnson, Michael Johnson (Delana), and Angie Crawford (Bryan); grandchildren, Rain Moore, Journee Hill, Brayeleigh Belton, and Aylizabeth Belton; sister, Amanda Smith Lee (Maurice); brother, Scott Smith; and best friends, Christy Beheler and Tabitha Barkley.

Anita was preceded in death by her father and by her husband, Bobby “Bob” Johnson; and a brother, Marshall “Junior” Smith.

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 9, 2026 at Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Eng officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
