Marshall "Junior" Smith

Marshall “Junior” Smith, 53, of Hickory, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 20, 2026. He was born on February 12, 1973 in Burke County to Martha “Mott” Mincey Miller and the late Marshall Winfred Smith. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his sisters, Anita Johnson (Bob), and Amanda Smith Lee (Maurice); brother, Scott Smith; special nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; close friends, Cliff LeFevers, Michael Heller and Kurt Oxentine; and his canine friend, Gracie.

A graveside service will begin at 1pm, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Bradley Johnson and Keith Burkhart officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
