Thomas Michael "Mike" Peterson, 64, of Morganton, NC, left this world peacefully on Thursday June 4, 2026.

Born in East Liverpool, OH on June 19, 1961, he was the son of the late Thomas A. & Essie E. Peterson.

Mike was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and Pap Pap. He was an avid hunter and fisher, who loved spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Mary A. Peterson; daughter, Danielle M. Miller (Jerit); son, Thomas M. "TM" Peterson, II (Jessica W.); grandchildren, Memphis M., Zaylie P., Sophie P., Mara M., Paul P., Phoenix P., Kryssy C., and Danika L.; siblings, Renee Cramer, Robin Basinger (Robert), and Keith Peterson (Vickey); and numerous nieces, and nephews, and extended family, including Rosali V. Peterson, & his four-legged friend, Split-shot.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Peterson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
