Shawn P. Hood, 57, of Lenoir, NC passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 1, 2025. He was born on December 19, 1967 in Illinois to the late Peter Hood and Mary Sue Boyd Hood.

He was raised in the Catholic faith. Shawn was working for Mountain Bizcapital and had worked for BB&T and Capital Bank. He was a bull pen catcher for the Hickory Crawdads and associate scout for the Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Rob and Sue Hood.

He is survived by a son, Landyn Hood (fiancée, Grace York); brother, Robin Hood (Nichole); nephew, Killian Hood; niece, Madeleine Hood; former wife, Kimberley Burns (Kenneth).

A private family celebration of Shawn’s life will be held at a later date.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

He was the best coach and he did a lot of good things for me he made me one of the best baseball players at newton conover and he taught me and if I ever fell down he helped me and he pushed me to my max and it paid off I will never forget what he has done for me and I appreciate everything he will be missed alot

Shawn and I worked together for many years and were very close friends and he was also close with my family and some other close friends. We were all like family. This brakes my heart .Landyn your dad spoke of you all the time you were his world . I am so super for your loss . Your dad was a wonderful man and will truly be missed by so many.
