Ruth Waters Cook, 88, of Morganton, NC, died Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Born in South Carolina on December 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Henry Thomas Waters and Ethel Lorine Crumley Waters. Ruth was a member of Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for most of her life and had been attending Burkemont Baptist Church for the last six years. She enjoyed traveling, watching old westerns, and being around her friends, but she mostly enjoyed time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her children, Clyde Cook, Jr. (Kim), Glenda Sue Cook Watson (A.Z.), Kenneth Lee Cook (Cindy), Tamela Denise Cook Pearson, and Terry Lorine Cook Blackburn (David); nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her lifelong best friend, Jerry Ann Shehan.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Cook, Sr.; brothers, William Joseph Waters and Robert Roy Waters; and Yorkie companion, Ally.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Maw, I will miss you dearly. You were always like a second mom to me. You never raised your voice nor said a harsh word to me. I'm so thankful for the 43 years the Lord blessed me with you in my life. I could not have prayed for a better grandmother. Thank you for all of the chesrished memories you left me with.
