Roy Ray Willis, 76, of Morganton, NC, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Born in Burke County, NC on November 25, 1949, he was the son of the late Joseph Marvin Willis and Katherine Elizabeth Franklin Willis.
Roy was a member of Victory Church in Morganton and was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed coaching baseball and football, swimming at the river, and fishing trips to Cherokee. Roy deeply loved his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Bryan Scott Willis (Kim); grandchildren, Quincey Rex Willis and Jaden Scott Willis; brother, Joe Willis (Joyce); and three nieces.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Rex Willis; and two sisters, Margaret Green and Joyce Newton.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2026 at Victory Church with Pastor Raul Hernandez officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

We will miss this dear friend tremendously. He always loved to send memes on his phone, called when he needed to talk.. We watched him grow in his faith & relationship with the Lord, he was a changed man. We will see him again!!!!God Bless Scott & his family, keeping you all in our prayers,
Awww what a precious soul who will be greatly missed. We’ve left a blue candle in condolence for our granddaughter Sydney. Ray always saved the Blue DumDum suckers and gave her hand fulls on Sundays. Sending prayers to Rays family.
On behalf of the Wilson family, Kevin, Kenneth, Eddie and myself, I’m sending Rays family my condolences. If ever there was a friend that was a good helper it was Ray.. it was my pleasure to have known him.
Ray was such a sweet man. I will always cherish his friendship. Prayers for his family and those who hold his memories so close.
Ray was an example of what God can do in our lives. He had such a powerful testimony and wasn’t afraid to share it! Later in life Ray overcame some challenges in his life and was a Great friend and Wonderful human being! He Loved God and Loved his country! Stand Tall my friend and give Jesus a hug for me! I’ll see you soon and am proud to call you friend!
Ray and I went to school together. He was a dear friend . I know he will be missed but he is with his son Rex again My God be with his family, You all are in my prays
