Roger Dean McKinney, 91, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Born in McDowell County, NC on March 4, 1932, he is the son of the late Herbert B. McKinney and Maggie Dover McKinney.
Roger was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an outstanding father and all-around good man. He always led by example.
Roger is survived by his sons, Gary Dean McKinney and Benny Dale McKinney.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha Williams McKinney.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the NC National Guard.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
