Reneé Loven Faircloth, 62, of Morganton, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, April 17, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on January 3, 1961, she was the daughter of Nina Faye King Loven and the late Sterling Loven.

Reneé was a member of Arney’s Fairview United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees. She worked for 28 years for the North Carolina Department of Corrections throughout the state. She finished her career as a Captain at Marion Correctional Institute. During her career she received numerous honors and awards.

Reneé was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed spending time with and caring for all the animals at Horseshoe Bend Campground, especially her beloved Boston Terrier, Maggie. She also enjoyed listening to her daughter, Shelley, sing and her son-in-law, R.W., play the piano.

In addition to her mother, Ms. Faircloth is survived by her daughter, Shelley Faircloth Hobbs (R.W.); granddaughters, Kara and Sadie Hobbs; brothers, John J. Loven and Vance Loven; sister, Doris McMahon (Larry); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Reneé was preceded in death by her father and twin brother, Mike Loven.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Church Cemetery. Honors will be provided by the NC Department of Corrections.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Renee, I know we will meet again one day in a place far from the worries, sorrows and evil of this world. Even though we didn't spend much time together, I enjoyed those times.... both on the shore of the ocean and in the beauty in the mountains. Thanks for the last words we shared 🌷
