Pearle Poteat Anderson Deaton, 104, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026.
Born in McDowell County, NC on May 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Berlin Poteat and Stella Hill Poteat.
Pearle was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church. She was also a member of The Circle Methodist Women’s Club and the Glen Alpine Women’s Club. Pearle loved going to church, shopping, going out to eat, and getting her nails done.
Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Angie Watts (Charlie), Jannie Anderson McMorris, Andy Peaters, and Duke Kirk; sister, Joyce Hilmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family that she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Pearle was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Anderson; second husband, Hurbert Deaton; daughter, Avis Anderson Kehoe; and a son, Travis Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home and burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the college fund for the kids at Grace Ridge
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Grace Ridge for the compassionate care shown to Pearle.
