Maxine Seitz Propst, 87, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on June 12, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Seitz, Sr. and Ann Dale Seitz.

Maxine was an active member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church, where she had served as president of the UMW, secretary/treasurer of the UMW, was a Sunday school teacher, and at large board member. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. Maxine worked as an outlet store manager, Calvary Day School worker, and babysitter.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerry Lynn Propst; sons, Tim Propst (Nancy) and Todd Propst (Juliet); grandchildren, Joshua (Meredith), Shannon (Sam), and Caitlin (Mike); great-grandchildren, Ezra, Oakley, Juniper, Bella, and Nova; sister, Margaret Seitz; sister-in-law, Lynn Seitz; family in Michigan: Nancy’s brother, Bob (Cathy); and family in Maine: Nancy’s sons, Doug (Jennifer) and Don (Penny); four step-great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Henry Seitz, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Boliek and Rev. Dr. Stephen Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
