Linda Flowers Schachtschneider, 77, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, following a brief decline in health.
Born in Morganton, NC, on March 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late David Levi Flowers and Ethel Morris Flowers.
Linda was a registered nurse who dedicated many years of her life to caring for others. She spent much of her nursing career at Broughton Hospital, where she served as a house supervisor. Her compassion and dedication to helping others extended beyond her nursing career and into her everyday life.
Linda was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and her church family held a very special place in her heart. She cherished the fellowship and friendships she found within her church and loved her church family dearly.
Above all, Linda loved and cared deeply for her family. She treasured the time spent with those she loved. Linda shared an especially close bond with her granddaughter, Monica, whom she raised and loved as her own daughter. Their relationship was one of the greatest blessings of her life. Linda will be remembered for her faith, compassion, and devotion to her family and her Savior.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steven "Steve" Lee Schachtschneider, who passed away in June 2023; and son, Michael Baldwin.
Linda is survived by her children, Bo Hilliard (Tammy), Stephen Schachtschneider, Trisha Schachtschneider (Connie Abee-Freeze), James Schachtschneider, Tammy Jensen (Yates), and Lisa Lange; granddaughter, Monica Schachtschneider, whom she lovingly raised as her own daughter; grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Hilliard, Trey and Tate Jensen and Alisa, Tyler and Christian Lange; sister, Doris Flowers Lowery; and many cherished members of her extended family and church family.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Grace Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the church with Rev. Marty Bess officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

My sincerest condolences. Linda was a wonderful lady whom I came to know from my time working at BH. My heart felt prayers for her family and friends. She will be missed.
Jessica, know it’s a hard time right now, but your Aunt knew how very much you loved her. Every photo with you and the kids, you could see the love in her eyes and in her smile. She loved you all so much and you made her happy. Keeping you, your Mom and kids in our prayers.
Linda was such a kind precious soul. I loved working with her and enjoyed learning with her over the years. She truly cared for everyone and took such good care of all around her. She will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to the family.

She was an angel! My angel. As sisters we had an amazing childhood with wonderful parents. Linda will forever be in my heart as she journeys on to Heaven. She fought the fight and God said no more pain or suffering, come home! The time I spent caring for you when you came home from the hospital was so special we shared so much. I will always love you and until we meet again save me a seat at the table snd give my love to Mom Dad Steve and Michael. Thank you fot always being a second Mom to Russell and Jessica. My Sweet Aunt Linda, I am so going to miss our daily talks and visits. You were always there for me when I needed someone. You were not only my Aunt but you were like a mother to me. My heart breaks that you are no longer here but I know you are in heaven with Michael and Uncle Steve. I will always cherish our times together and the memories that we have. I love you so much. Bird and Liam will always remember all the fun we had. We will always celebrate you. Until we meet again my Aunt Linnie.
