Linda Flowers Schachtschneider

Linda Flowers Schachtschneider, 77, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, following a brief decline in health.

Born in Morganton, NC, on March 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late David Levi Flowers and Ethel Morris Flowers.

Linda was a registered nurse who dedicated many years of her life to caring for others. She spent much of her nursing career at Broughton Hospital, where she served as a house supervisor. Her compassion and dedication to helping others extended beyond her nursing career and into her everyday life.

Linda was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and her church family held a very special place in her heart. She cherished the fellowship and friendships she found within her church and loved her church family dearly.

Above all, Linda loved and cared deeply for her family. She treasured the time spent with those she loved. Linda shared an especially close bond with her granddaughter, Monica, whom she raised and loved as her own daughter. Their relationship was one of the greatest blessings of her life. Linda will be remembered for her faith, compassion, and devotion to her family and her Savior.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steven "Steve" Lee Schachtschneider, who passed away in June 2023; and son, Michael Baldwin.

Linda is survived by her children, Bo Hilliard (Tammy), Stephen Schachtschneider, Trisha Schachtschneider (Connie Abee-Freeze), James Schachtschneider, Tammy Jensen (Yates), and Lisa Lange; granddaughter, Monica Schachtschneider, whom she lovingly raised as her own daughter; grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Hilliard, Trey and Tate Jensen and Alisa, Tyler and Christian Lange; sister, Doris Flowers Lowery; and many cherished members of her extended family and church family.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Grace Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the church with Rev. Marty Bess officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
