Kaiden Benfield, 5, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Born in Burke County, NC, he was the son of Joseph C. Benfield and Jamilah Rasheed. Kaiden was a happy, fun-loving child who loved playing on his swing set.
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Kailyn Grace Benfield, Kaileigh Marie Benfield, Samantha Benfield, and Kaitlyn Benfield; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kaiden was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Yusuf Rasheed, Sr.; and paternal grandfather, Joe H. Benfield.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2025 at Yellow Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Plumtree, NC with Pastor Charley Bradley officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Our heart breaks for Kaiden’s daddy Joe. I know that Kaiden loved his daddy so much, and Joe absolutely loves and adores Kaiden. Joe told me that Kaiden would always stay up, and wait for his daddy every night for him to get home. This world may have lost such a beautiful soul, but Heaven truly gained another angel.
