Ira Clontz Absher, 94, of Pax Hill Road in the Chesterfield Community, went to her heavenly home on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on October 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Clontz and Martha Barlow Clontz.

Ira was a good, Christian woman and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She worked in the church kitchen and taught Sunday school for many years. Ira retired from Hanes Textiles and loved working in her yard.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bruce Absher and Kevin Absher (Amy); grandchildren, Tyler Moore, Jonathan Paul Absher (Lee), and Lindsay Absher Williams (Zach); great-grandchildren, Luke Absher Williams and Emma Williams; son-in-law, Ronnie Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ira was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Absher; daughter, Paula Absher Moore; brothers, Carl, Nester, Parks, and Max Clontz; and sister, Lois Ollis.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2025 at Bethel Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Kevin Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 3861 Pax Hill Road, Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

So sorry for your lost guys, please let us know if y'all need anything we're here for y'all and will miss her so much, uncle Charles will be there for her when she gets to heaven, Gary and I know what y'all are going to feel and will be praying for y'all Ira and mom were so close and loved when they spent Saturday together shopping and going to AJ,S for lunch GOD BLESS your family and we are here for anything y'all want and need, LOVE Y'ALL
