Gary Robin Roberts, 70, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 after an extended illness.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 31, 1953, he was the son of the late Ulysses Roberts and Lucille Foster Roberts.

Gary was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church, and he loved his church family and singing in the choir. Mr. Roberts proudly served in the US Army. He worked for Focus Behavioral Health Services as their IT Technician for many years. Gary enjoyed music and watching football (especially the Dallas Cowboys), and he loved spending time with his family.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and father-in-law, Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Linda “Lynn” Burris Roberts; daughters, Misty Roberts and Laura Roberts Ballard (Brian); grandchildren, Haven and Bo Ballard; sister, Debra Roberts Gibbs (Harry); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Head; and brother-in-law, Danny Head.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Revs. Dr. Eddy Bunton and Dr. Luke Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The service will be live-streamed by the church on the church website or Facebook page.

Flowers are appreciated, but memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
