Frances had a passion for flowers and delighted in her time running a floral business in Glen Alpine in the 1970’s with her sister-in-law. She also loved volunteering in her community, and camping up at Daniel Boone Campground.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jack Douglas McKinney; brother, James “Jim” Crawley.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen McKinney Showler (Phil), Cheryl McKinney Franklin (Kirk) and Donna McKinney Fleming; grandchildren, Amanda Mercades (Andrew), Evan Showler (Cheri), Derek Franklin (Paula), Lauren Burns (Chris), Devyn Sankey (Dustin), and Landyn Fleming (Savannah); great-grandchildren, John, Noah, Matthew, Jack, Joshua, Lucian, Toby, Kinley, Drew, and Braylee; sister, Debra Angley (John); sister-in-law, Judy Crawley; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 11am-12noon on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 1:30pm at Bethel Methodist Church on Dysartsville Road with Rev. Donald Farris and Pastor Patrick Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

I admired Fran so much when I was growing up. She was so soft spoken and kind, beautifully dressed and accessorized with gorgeous hair. A good mother to her three girls (I would babysit with them when they were toddlers.) Deb and family I understand the pain of this loss.

—Judy Farris
