Elizabeth Lovelace Cooper 'Nanny', 75, of Morganton, passed away on October 5th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Bly and Rebecca Lovelace in Morganton on March 31, 1950. She graduated from Salem High School in 1968 and married Thomas June Cooper in 1968 Charleston, SC.
Beth was passionate about Jesus and truly believed in God's love and forgiveness, offering eternal life and love in heaven. She enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and preacher Jimmy Swaggart, listening to Elvis Presley, and nurturing her family. She had true devotion and adored her family; as she was the glue that held us all together. Beth was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who possessed the qualities of love, wisdom, support, and acceptance.
Beth is survived by her husband, Thomas Cooper; their children, Danny Cooper, Laura Cooper, and Cindy Stogner (Jeff); brother Kenny Lovelace and sisters Sparky Davidson (Glen) and Polly Mayo (Ralph); nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bly and Rebecca Lovelace; siblings, Hazel Howell, Clifford Lovelace, Billy Lovelace, and Molinda Karpman; and daughter Teresa Cooper.
Beth will especially be remembered for her sweet nature and generosity. She was willing to give the clothes off her back and the last piece of food to a stranger in need without hesitation. Her generous spirit left an incredible mark on all who knew her. She taught us that the most amazing gifts were not material, but small, everyday acts of kindness. Her light will continue to shine bright in our hearts, and her memory and warmth will forever be treasured.
The family will receive friends from 3pm until 4pm, Friday, October 10, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 4pm in the Colonial Chapel with the Revs. David Orders and Greg Leonard officiating.
Favorite bible quote: Matthew 17:20: He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
