Friends since we were 14. I'll always remember you as that big ole' healthy guy in highschool that loved the ladies and got along with most everyone. A jokester and a simple country boy. You will be so missed. I'm so glad you are no longer suffering and have been made new again and are with our Heavenly Father.🙏🏻 Gone far too soon but always remembered. Keeping your boys, your Mama and siblings as well as the rest of your family and friends in my prayers. "Darrell with two r's" I never could spell it right back in 9th grade. I'll see you again one day old friend.🖤

To Darrell, his family, friends and children. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Though Darrell and I never met in person, we had became Facebook friends many years ago. I will miss his jokes and his southern accent that I was always fond of. Darrell was a sweetheart. I know he had not been in the best of health over the past months, and he just wanted to be in no more pain. May he rest easy in the arms of Christ now. My sincere condolences to the family.

Darrell was a wonderful guy. Always kind and didn't mind helping anyone. We have been friends for a long. When he caught Alot of fish he would bring to my Dad. In return my Dad would give him Chow-Chow. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Rest easy my brother you have finished your work down here. To be absent from the body. Is to be Present with The Lord.

Dear family, Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one. When I was at Hillcrest Elementary, Darrell was one of my students. He had a wonderful smile as a young child and treated the other students and staff with kindness and respect. After retiring from the school system and while working for UNC Blue Ridge Health, I was able to reconnect with Darrell via his sister, Kim Powell. He was the same sweet person, only in adult form. May Darrell 's memory live on through his family that he so loved. Susan Pollpeter
