Douglas “Darrell” Duckworth, Jr.

Douglas “Darrell” Duckworth, Jr., 38, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, while surrounded by his family.

Born in Burke County, NC on May 18, 1988, he was the son of Douglas Darrell Duckworth and Peggy Rebecakh Benfield Snipes.

Darrell was a loving father, son, and family man. He was great storyteller, loved to joke around with people, fish, and hunt. He was a helpful person who would give anyone anything he had. Darrell loved good food.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his children, Zaden Lake Duckworth and Richard Thomas “R.T.” Duckworth of the home; siblings, Brandy Buchanan (Jeff), Kimberly Powell (Travis), Tommy Duckworth (Heather), and Tanya Cha (Blong); and numerous nieces, nephews, a great-niece, and great-nephews.

Darrell was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Peggy Joyce Benfield; brother, Danny Delane Lackey; step-father, Vernon Snipes; and paternal grandparents, M.T. and Mabel Duckworth.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A celebration of Darrell’s life will follow at 6 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. John Latz officiating.

At this time the family is requesting privacy.
