Douglas Burleson, 84 of Morganton, NC passed away, Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Born on October 29, 1941, he was the son of the late Olin and Margaret Burleson. Douglas was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding horses and training them. Douglas loved helping others with their tools, working on the farm, gardening, and tinkering with things.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Tresia Burleson; sons, Chris Burleson (Elizabeth), Terry Burleson (Pam), and Ed Burleson (Liz); grandchildren, Bella, Grace, Davis, Clark, Bradley, Parker, Luke Burleson, and Lily Berrospe (Danny); brother, Larry Burleson (Joyce); sister, Daris Greenway (Curtis).
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Burleson, Dora Burleson, and Barbara Curtis; brother, Sidney Burleson.
The family will receive friends from 11am until noon, Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Sunnyside Baptist Church. The funeral will be held in the church at noon with the Rev. Clint Ewing officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
