Dewey “Ralph” Dale, 95, of Glen Alpine, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on December 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Jink Dale and Jessie Lenoir Seagle Dale.

Ralph attended Fairview Baptist Church in Golden Valley, Rutherford County. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who never met a stranger and loved everyone he met. Ralph was very proud to have known five generations of his family. He was well known in Burke County for his backhoe and dump-truck work, and his visits to Silver Creek Restaurant to socialize with his friends. In his younger years, Ralph enjoyed hunting and traveling out west, but he most enjoyed spending time with his family.

Ralph is survived by his daughters, Linda Dale Michaels (William) and Janice Dale Duckworth (Doug); grandchildren, Kevin Michaels (Donna), Charlene McCall (Harvey), and Rhett Duckworth (Gwendolyn); great-grandchildren, Lance Garland, Zachary Webb (Breanna), Hunter McCall (Liz), and Dakota Duckworth (Avery); great-great-granddaughter, Lilia Garland-Trittin; sister, Mary Sigmon; sister-in-law, Ruth Gurley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lorraine Grayson Dale; second wife, Hazel Grayson Silvers; brothers, Johnny A., Ernest, William, Albert, George, and Millard Dale; and sisters, Louise Whisenant and Bertha Scott.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Fairview Baptist Church in Golden Valley, NC. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. David Ledford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Support, 902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

Ralph was a treasure. He knew my mom's family the Vines on Snowhill church road. Mom is gone but enjoyed talking to Ralph and his remembrance of my mom's family. Saw him several times a week at Silver Creek Restaurant. He was very popular with everyone. He will be missed.

I’ve known Mr. Ralph (and his family) all my life, as a neighbor and friend to my grandparents and family. I saw him most either at my grandparents home, Shuff and Judy Bryant, or in the community helping someone on his heavy equipment. I know he’s left so much love and many memories with you, his family and friends. I’m so sorry for your loss. Heaven has gained a good man!
