Cary A. Clark, 71, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Born in Hoke County, NC on May 1, 1954, he was the son of the late Furman O. Clark, Sr. and Anna Batchelor Clark.
Cary spent his high school years at Carolina Military Academy and graduated from Sandhills Community College. He worked as a telecommunicator with the NC Highway Patrol. Cary enjoyed helping others, being with friends, and weekly visits to the YMCA. He also enjoyed getting together every week to eat lunch with his special friends. Mr. Clark was very proud of his home-grown maters, and he used them to make his one-slice mater sandwich.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lisa G. Propst; sister, Susan Clark; mother-in-law, Mary Propst; sister-in-law, Lala Clark; nephews, Nicholas, Jordan, Trip, and Russ; special friends, Bobby Smith, Louis Rector, and Ray Leonhardt; and his fur-baby, Olive Oyl.
In addition to his parents, Cary was preceded in death by two brothers, Furman Clark, Jr. and Bill Clark; father-in-law, Willie Propst, Jr.; and special friend, Wally Woolbright.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2026 at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Monica Childers and Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Honors will be provided by the NC Highway Patrol. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Backpack Fund or to Salem Fire and Rescue.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

My condolences for the family! I’ve known Cary for a long time. He dispatched for the NC State Highway Patrol while I dispatched at the Burke County Sheriffs Office. He’s always been a great friend and person. Praying for all of his family 🙏

Cary’s rules for the Y - grey on Monday; blue on Wednesday, and red on Friday. He was one of my heroes and an inspiration every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I will miss his humor and positive attitude!

So sorry to hear that Cary passed, Cary was one of my telecommunicator when I was stationed in Hickory. He watched after me when I was patrolling the streets of Catawba County. He will be missed. Ao sorry for your lost.
Cary was always willing to help out. One of the most courageous things he helped with was teaching his 2 teenage nephews how to drive. Cary, you will be missed by many. Lisa, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love… Lala
