Bobby Allen Yates, 64, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025. He was born on February 5, 1961 in Watauga County, NC to the late Howard Yates and Cora Trivette Yates. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly, and with his friends. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and going to rallies as well as dancing, hunting, fishing and helping others. Bobby never met a stranger and was a friend to all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Howard Yates; sisters, Judy Y. Lambert, Kathy Y. Palmer, and Debra Sue Y. Moretz.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Freida Webb Yates; children, Debra Jean Faw (Dylan), Deanna Rainey, Bella Yates, Steven Fox (Kasey), Mitchell Webb (Christina), Julie Holloway Tompkins, and Sara Moretz; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Kevin Eugene Yates.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Rick Faw officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
