Annette Yarbro Bradshaw, 89, of Morganton, NC, arrived in Heaven on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Born on August 25, 1937, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Yarbro and Bertha Ellen Sain Yarbro.

Annette graduated from Belwood High School and Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She dedicated her career to teaching in public schools, where she inspired countless children and instilled in them a love for learning. Annette was the Burke County Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year in 1988 and 1991, and she retired from the school system with 31.5 years of service.

Annette will be remembered for her radiant smile that could brighten even the darkest days, her warm and comforting hugs, and, most importantly, her unconditional love for others. She often expressed gratitude for the simple blessings in life, never taking them for granted. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she lovingly shared that faith with her beloved family at Mt. Home Baptist Church and her community.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Bradshaw (Wendy), her sister, Susie Stroupe, her brother, Buddy Yarbro (Nell), and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bradshaw.

Funeral services will be held on September 26, 2026, at Mt. Home Baptist Church. A visitation will take place from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. with Rev. David Orders and Rev. Rocky Hartman officiating. The graveside service will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to give special recognition to Medi Home Hospice nurses: Aggie Beach, Amanda Suttle, Courtney Metcalf, Savannah King, and Lindsie Clement. They would also like to thank Annette’s caregivers: Theresa Smith, Suzy Bernard, Beverly Morton, Kathy McClean, and Starr Little.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Medi Home Hospice or to Mt. Home Baptist Church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear of Ann’s passing. Ann was my fourth-grade teacher at Glen Alpine Elementary School, and I will never forget my experience in her classroom. She was such a caring and compassionate teacher who truly cared about her students, both inside and outside the classroom. I had a difficult year that year, including being accidentally knocked unconscious on the ball field and waking up in Ann’s arms. Later that same year, I was hit by a car. Through it all, Ann was always so understanding, supportive, and caring. She was the kind of teacher who genuinely cared about the lives and well-being of her students. Back then, I had no idea that my wonderful cousin Wendy would one day grow up and marry Ann’s son, David. I feel so fortunate that Ann remained a part of my life in her later years. We shared so many wonderful talks, memories, and special moments. She always had a way of making me feel loved and special. I am so very sorry, David and Wendy, for your loss. I hope you find comfort in knowing how many lives Ann touched and how deeply she was loved. I also find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now in a better place. She will always hold a very special place in my heart. Jimmy Sisk

I am so sorry for this great loss. Ann was a joy to know and we have treasured knowing her from our time at Time Saver Market up until recently. I especially recall our time together on the Savannah, GA bus trip. Savannah (Lackey) was 8 yrs old and this was a Grandmother /Granddaughter trip. That was many years ago, but still a precious memory of time shared with Ann. With love and sympathy to David & Wendy, Susie and all the precious family of Ann Bradshaw. Guinn Huffman
