Annette Yarbro Bradshaw, 89, of Morganton, NC, arrived in Heaven on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Born on August 25, 1937, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Yarbro and Bertha Ellen Sain Yarbro.
Annette graduated from Belwood High School and Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She dedicated her career to teaching in public schools, where she inspired countless children and instilled in them a love for learning. Annette was the Burke County Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year in 1988 and 1991, and she retired from the school system with 31.5 years of service.
Annette will be remembered for her radiant smile that could brighten even the darkest days, her warm and comforting hugs, and, most importantly, her unconditional love for others. She often expressed gratitude for the simple blessings in life, never taking them for granted. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she lovingly shared that faith with her beloved family at Mt. Home Baptist Church and her community.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Bradshaw (Wendy), her sister, Susie Stroupe, her brother, Buddy Yarbro (Nell), and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bradshaw.
Funeral services will be held on September 26, 2026, at Mt. Home Baptist Church. A visitation will take place from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. The graveside service will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to give special recognition to Medi Home Hospice nurses: Aggie Beach, Amanda Suttle, Courtney Metcalf, Savannah King, and Lindsie Clement. They would also like to thank Annette’s caregivers: Theresa Smith, Suzy Bernard, Beverly Morton, Kathy McClean, and Starr Little.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Medi Home Hospice or to Mt. Home Baptist Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
