Annette Louise McMahon, a great light in the world, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Friday, January 26, 2024.

Born in Leming, Texas on July 6, 1938, she was the second child of Susan and George Jaggy. She graduated from the Baptist School of Nursing in San Antonio. Annette after meeting her husband, George McMahon, married in Corpus Christi, TX in 1961 and moved to Norwalk, Connecticut. In Connecticut, Annette continued her nursing career before starting a family. Annette was the adored mother of eight children who will remember her as a beacon of great love, wisdom, charm, and kindness.

There was always room for one more at the McMahon table, always a good old fashioned home remedy for an ailment and always an environment of encouragement. Annette was a role model for ensuring that family and togetherness were held in the highest regard. Annette was renowned for her indelible style and resourcefulness. This was illustrated in the fantastic murals she painted in the family home and the ability to prepare five course (themed) meals in a moment's notice. If you experienced a dinner at Annette's house, you never forgot it. This was one of her missions in life, to foster a spirit of uniqueness and engage everyone. Annette stayed true to her Texas roots but she also embraced new experiences with enthusiasm. There wasn't a medium of art that she didn't try or a new place to which she wouldn't travel. Among her many interests,

Annette was a faithful parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Morganton. a certified Master Gardener, an accomplished seamstress, and a member of the Widows club and Faith Formation group. She also participated in events for the Diocese of Charlotte. Annette enjoyed the Ultreya Prayer Group and the Hickory Book Club, and she volunteered to support neglected children in the North Carolina Guardian Ad Litem and tutored ESL school children.

Annette is survived by her children: Suzanne, Timothy, Daniel, Valerie, Deborah, Michelle, Rachel and George; thirteen grandchildren; and brother, George B. Jaggy Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George McMahon; and sister, Lilly Fassnidge
