Alex Dean Austin, 19, of Valdese, NC, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026.
He was born in Burke County, NC on October 12, 2006.
Alex was a precious, kind-hearted, out-going young man who would talk to anyone. He loved Jesus and often prayed for others. He enjoyed baseball, motorcycles, and was a home-body who loved his family and loved spending time with them. The family wants it known, he looked his whole life for friends like the ones he found in the last year with his motorcycle group. They want to thank them for the way they loved him. The family and Alex will cherish Brandon being with him until the very end.
Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Alan Dean Austin (Lyndsay); mother, Chesley Proffitt Lee (Stevie); paternal grandparents, David and Sharon Sharpe; maternal grandparents, David Proffitt and Sherry Senter (Rick); step-sisters, Zhoe and Bella Driggers; girlfriend, Soliel Seechang; and numerous extended family.
A celebration of Alex’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant Church, 6516 Old Greensboro Road, Thomasville, NC 27360. Another celebration of Alex’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026 at FAM Church, 1955 US 70, Morganton, NC 28655 with Pastor John White officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
