Zennie Mae Carswell, 81, of Morganton, NC died Monday, July 10, 2017 at her home from declining health. Born on April 20, 1936 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Van Carswell and Annie Elizabeth Carswell.
Zennie was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She loved to be outdoors by doing yard and garden work. She also enjoyed feeding and watching birds.
Zennie is survived by sons, Jimmy Ray Justice and wife, Vicki, Ronald Allen Justice, and Michael Scott Justice all of Morganton; daughter, Debra Kaye Wellman and husband, Jimmy of Morganton; and daughter-in-law, Pat Justice of Hiddenite, NC. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Janie Cable and husband, Gordon and Susan Davis all of Lawndale, NC; and special K-9 companion, Bella Rose.
In addition to her parents, Zennie was preceded in death by husband, McKinley McCurry Justice; son, Kenny Justice; sister, Fannie Cope; and brothers, Ross, Nelson, Reece, Robert, J.B., Fred, James, and Bland Carswell.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon, Thursday, July 13 at Grace Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 12 noon in the church with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
