Zella Cuteene Smith Britt, 78, of Morganton passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Born in Burke County, NC on August 13, 1940, she was one of sixteen children of the late Theodore Smith and Texie Swink Smith. Zella retired from Broughton Hospital.
Mrs. Britt is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dennis William Britt of the home; step-children, Russell A. Britt of Vale, Terry Britt of Shelby, Tim Britt of Gastonia, and Tracey Britt Staton (Johnny) of Lawndale; a number of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and her canine companion, Angel.
In addition to her parents, Zella was preceded in death her step-son, Richard Dennis Britt.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
