Zane Yates Curtis

Zane Yates Curtis, 53, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on December 13, 1965, he was the son of Bobby Bruce Curtis and the late Virginia Duckworth Curtis.  Zane was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church.  Zane was a 1985 graduate of Freedom High School and was a hard worker all his life.  He was primarily employed as a farmer and trucker, but he most recently worked on a natural-gas pipeline.  He enjoyed vacationing with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Zane is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rachel Moore Curtis of the home; son, Dalton Curtis (Kaitlyn); grandsons, Larson Baker and Braylen Curtis; brother, Allen Curtis (Susan); a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family; and his beloved dog, Poppy.

In addition to his mother, Zane was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan Virginia Curtis; and sister, Gail Curtis.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastors Craig Price and Jeff Burleson officiating.
