Wilma “Tilley” Scott Tilson, 78, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, August 11, 2014. Born in Buncombe County, NC on March 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Eleanor Tate Scott. Tilley was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She retired from Grace Hospital with over 30 years of service and was a co-founder of Jim’s Beef Jerky.
Tilly is survived by her daughters, Kathy Coe and her husband, Chip, of Newton, NC, Linda Tilson of Morganton, and Jeanette Brown of Morganton; grandchildren, Kristy, Shay, Heather, T.J., Cody, Justin, James, and Kimberly; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Brandy.
In addition to her parents, Tilley was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Tilson, Sr., a son, James Edward Tilson, Jr; a daughter, Deborah Ann Tilson; and two sisters, Claudine and Marjorie.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Garner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Enon Baptist Church, 2059 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
