William P. Prestwood

William P. Prestwood, 84, of Glen Alpine, NC passed away Friday, April 3, 2026 after an extended illness.

Born in Burke County, NC on July 29, 1941, he was the son of the late Raymond Alexander Prestwood and Pearl Clark Prestwood.

William was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was plant manager at Old North Manufacturing, and he owned and operated Prestec, Inc. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and gem mining, and he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Barbara Jean Wright Prestwood; children, Bobbi Prestwood, Charlotte E. Ramsey, and T. Clayton Prestwood; grandchildren, Lance A. Turner, Tessa Ramsey, and Sarah Hodges; great-grandchildren, Mason, Jordan, and Rebekah; and a brother, Guy C. Throneburg.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Prestwood was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie S. Prestwood; and granddaughter, Tara Mae Prestwood.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home.
