William Macon Pearson, 59, of Hawthorne Street, Morganton, NC, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at his residence. Born in Burke County, NC on September 28, 1948, Macon was the son of the late Paul Means Pearson, Jr. and Willie Faye Stover Pearson. He was a graduate of Glade Valley High School and the North Carolina School of the Arts where he majored in music, studying under instructors from the Juilliard School of Music. He was also a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College. Macon was a concert pianist and a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He retired from Western Carolina Center.Mr. Pearson is survived by aunts, Edith Venable Pearson of Charlotte, NC, Betty Suarez of Jacksonville, FL, and Nancy Grier Pearson of Charlotte.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul Means Pearson, Sr. and Sarah Virginia Pearson and his maternal grandparents Lexie and Faye Stover.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Scot McComas officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center, Attn: South Mountain Crafts, 300 Enola Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
