William M. "Bill" Lindsay, 84, of Hilltop St., Morganton, NC died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Grace Hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 15, 1923 in Burke County, NC, and was a son of the late Marvin L. Lindsay and Della Williams Lindsay. Bill was a US Army Veteran, and served in the European Theater during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a retired employee of Greene Construction Company where he worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker.Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel Dale Lindsay, of the home; daughters, Judy Lindsay and Betsy Leonard and her husband, David, grandchildren, Corey Leonard and Jake Leonard; Rebecca Ervin; and a great granddaughter, Raven Leonard, all of Morganton; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Michael Bailey officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Valdese American Legion Post #234. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 203 Hilltop St. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
