William Joseph (Billy Joe) Canipe, 71, of Connelly Springs, NC died Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Amorem Hospice in Valdese following a courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Born in Burke County, NC on March 15, 1954, he was the son of the late Zora Edith (Tippy) McLean of Connelly Springs. Billy Joe loved being in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Billy Joe is survived by daughters, Jaime Canipe of the home; and Traci Canipe of Casar; a grandson, Hunter Canipe of the home; a brother, Ronnie Dean McLean of Forest City, NC; sisters, Sharion (Petey) Evans of Forest City and Lillie Setzer of Connelly Springs, NC; and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
