William Joe Epley

William Joe Epley, 89, of Morganton, NC, died Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on September 13, 2024, he was the son of the late Charlie Bill Epley and Emer Norman Epley.

William retired from Drexel Heritage Plant B as a security guard. He was an avid gardener and farmer, and he loved to raise cows, chickens, and goats.

Mr. Epley is survived by his wife, Jennette Swink Epley; three daughters; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnnie Epley (Evelyn) and Claude Epley; and sisters-in-law, Lois Epley and Louise Buff.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by two brothers, Mack Epley and Paul Clark; three sisters, Bessie Holland, Sadie Piercy, and Eula Stillwell; and former-wife, Beatrice Epley.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lou Gardner officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
