William “Bill” E. Woody, Jr., 77, of Drexel, NC, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025.

Born in McDowell County, NC on August 29, 1948, he was the son of the late William Earl Woody, Sr. and Louise Patton Woody.

Bill was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1967 to 1970. He was a lifelong resident of Burke County. Bill worked at American Roller Bearing and Burke County Public Schools. His hobbies included woodworking and photography.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Elizabeth Woody; nephew, Roger Wilson; and niece, Terese Christian.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Woody Wilson.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2025 at Drexel Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home, and a celebration of Bill’s life will follow at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home. Dr. Lydia Huffman Hoyle will officiate.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
