William Dean Harmon, Jr., 48, of Morganton, NC, departed this world on Sunday, June 24, 2018.  Born May 29, 1970, in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late William Dean Harmon, Sr. and Leona Bessie Bullins Harmon.

Dean was one of the few that were able to combine two of his loves; saving lives and fighting fires.  He was a lieutenant/paramedic for Burke County Emergency Medical Services and chief of Chesterfield Fire and Rescue.  Dean was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Along his journey he made many lifelong friends and will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Emma Heavner Harmon; son, Dean Edward Harmon and wife, Heather; daughters, Beth Harmon Patton and husband, Todd, Myra Harmon, Alicia Harmon and fiancé, Austin Avery and “Harmon.5”, Dana Chandler and husband, Steven; and grandchildren, Liam and Izzy Harmon and Aidyn Patton.  Also surviving are sisters, Marie Netherton and Becky Beam both of Morganton, Lisa Houser and Tammy Maltas both of Clinton, IA; sister-in-law, Jennifer Floyd; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Linda Daniels Heavner.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Friday, June 29, 2018 at Burkemont Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, June 29, 2018 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating.

Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Harmon Cemetery in Banner Elk.
