William "Billy" Hlobil, 66, of Morganton NC went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 6, 2010 after an extended illness. Born in Chicago, IL on June 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph William Hlobil and Christine Boyd Alberts. Billy was a member of Friendly Freewill Baptist Church. He was proud that he had recently become an ordained minister. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and retired from Broughton Hospital.Billy is survived by his sister, Donna Lee Perham of VT; nephews, Arthur Perham, Tony Perham, and wife, Abby, and Eric Perham, all of VT, and Dominic Perham and wife, Sandra, of Morganton; and a close friend, John Ernst of MN.A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Friendly Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Valdese American Legion Post #234. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of his nephew, Dominic Perham, in Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendly Freewill Baptist Church, 104 Cross Memorial Avenue, Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
