William “Bill” Dewey Foster, 96, of Hampden and more recently of Morganton, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Springfield on Aug. 7, 1925, the son of the late Oliver and Mary Foster. He was a graduate of Classical High School, class of 1944 ½.

Following his service in the Navy, he continued his education at Wentworth Institute in Washington, D.C. where he earned a degree and became a Master Electrician. After working for the railroad and phone company, Bill was employed by O.R. Cote before starting his own company. He also worked for Bolduc Hydraulic, Milton Bradley and Cumberland Farms. Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed many activities, but in particular golf, which he played for many years. He recently celebrated recognition of the newly instituted Bill Foster Ranger of the Year trophy at Cedar Knob Golf Course where he worked as a ranger for many years.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Goldie”; and his three brothers, Richard, Robert, and Oliver.

He is survived by his four children, John, Margarette Krejci and husband, Craig, Sarah Bryce and husband, Thomas, and Thomas Foster and wife, Kathy, two grandchildren, Kailey and Kyle Krejci; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
