William Bass Sumner, Sr. 78 of Valdese, NC passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020. Born June 9, 1941 in Copiah County, Mississippi he was a son of the late Dwight Gillete Sumner and Nell Bass Sumner.
Mr. Sumner’s hobbies included fishing, bowling, and watching NASCAR. He loved his family and his dog. He is going to be missed dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Sumner and an infant daughter.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Carrie Fehlberg; son, William Bass Sumner, Jr.; grandchildren, Adrian Seeley, Andrew Johns, and Amanda Johns; and great-grandchildren, A.J. Seeley, Ayden Seeley, Alexandra Wortman, and Elizabeth Barrier. Also surviving include his brother, Dwight Sumner, Jr. (Shirley) and a sister, Sue Sumner.
There will be no services at this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
