Willard Carswell, 86, of Hickory, NC passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born on February 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Dorsie and Brune Carswell. Willard was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He enjoyed working outside in the garden and cutting wood. Willard also enjoyed turtle hunting. He was just a good ol’ country boy.
Willard is survived by his children, Kathy Smith and Donna Kincaid; grandchildren, Richard Smith, Jammy Carswell, and Chassity Seawell; great-grandchild, Shayla Deanna Silver; great-great-grandchild, Bodie River; brothers, James "Ott" Carswell (Ruby), and Sanford Carswell; and sister, Dorothy Bowman.
In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Kincaid; grandchildren, Larry George Smith, Jr., Jason Smith, and Heather Procell; great-grandchildren, Brianne Nicole Seawell and Christian Jou; and nephew, Steven Carswell.
A cryptside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Robert Morgan officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
