Wanda Griffin Mills

Wanda Griffin Mills, of Winding Creek Dr. in Morganton went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Union County, and was a daughter of the late Buford Benjamin Griffin and Frances Eury Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Threatt. Wanda was a graduate of UNC at Greensboro, and a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. Wherever her husband, Dr. David Mills was serving as pastor, she also served in the activities and daily life of the church. Wanda enjoyed the beach and painting. She was devoted to her family and her grandchildren.Wanda is survived by her husband, Dr. David Mills of the home; sons, David Mills, II and wife, Ellen of Conover, NC, and Andy Mills and wife, Sherrie of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Natalie, and Gabriel Mills; a sister, Diane Godwin and husband, Jimmy of Charlotte, NC; and a brother-in-law, David Threatt of Monroe, NC.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Dr. David Mills and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 until 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe.
