Walter Kozma, 95, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 30, 1927, he was the son of the late John Kozma and Olivet Kozma.

Walter was a veteran of the US Army and served in the south Pacific. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. Mr. Kozma a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, was an electrical engineer at Bell Labs for many years, and an avid animal lover.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judith “Judy” Kennedy Kozma; step-granddaughters, Michelle Hessian (Joseph) and Lexi Moje; and sister-in-law, Anita Kozma.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by siblings, Donald and Eleanore; step-son, Christopher Moje and his wife, Jackie.

A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 119 N. King Street, Morganton with Rev. Paul Carlson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
