W. C. Reep, Jr., 95, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022.

Born in Burke County, NC on December 18, 1926, he was the son of the late William C. Reep and Lois England Reep.  W.C. served with the US Navy during WWII and was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church.  He retired from Great Lakes Carbon Plant.

“Grandaddy”, which he was lovingly called, enjoyed tilling a large garden and was known for giving the fruits of his labor to neighbors and friends along the way. He loved watermelon, this was the one food he enjoyed to eat the most, good and cold with plenty of salt, of course! He was a devoted husband, dad, and grandaddy, he was always there for his family. He loved teasing his caregivers, one of his favorite sayings to them was “The skin you love to touch!”

And, in his own words “Everything is Copacetic!”

Mr. Reep is survived by his sons, William Allen Reep and Thomas England Reep (Libby); grandchildren, Hunter Reep (Madison), Ben Brumsey (Kim) and Patrick Brumsey (Jessica); great grandchildren Sophie Reep, Brighton Brumsey and Lucas Brumsey; and several very special nieces and nephews.

The family wants to acknowledge and thank the loving caregivers that were there for him during his declining health. They brought joy and companionship into his life and provided wonderful care for him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Reep was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Eloise Smith Reep; brother, Mackie Reep; and sisters, Betty Jo Patton, Edna Costner, and Catherine Wofford.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022 in Glen Alpine Cemetery with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
