Born nestled deep in the mountains of Avery County along a beautiful valley called Stamey Branch. Mom learned at a very young age the value and importance of having a close relationship with Jesus.

The youngest of seven siblings and the granddaughter of Wilson Stamey, the founder of Stamey Town Baptist Church.

She was saved and baptized at the age of twelve. She never veered from her beliefs and stayed loyal to her Lord and Savior all her life. She went on to sing with her late husband Pete Tallent wherever the Lord would call them.

She instilled those same beliefs in all of her family starting with her five children, one already gone home; Brenda Tallent Hunt, waiting for her in Heaven. Also having 15 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren and many more who would look to her as a mother. She would teach us all at an early age to put Jesus 1st and a family that prays together would stay together.

Things wasnt always easy for mom she completed her GED at the age of 32 while raising five kids and working often two jobs to just get our family by. Vivian became a care giver and worked for eighteen years at Western Carolina Center, now known as J. Iverson Riddle before retiring. She often spoke of her patients referring to them as her babies and how much loved them and they loved her, often calling her Moma when she came to work.

She was a Caregiver to everyone around her it seemed. Taking care of her husband Pete before cancer took him in 1996. God would later send her another husband in 1999 Paul Cornett; known as Praying Paul. They were able to travel a lot to Camp Meetings spreading the Gospel Message until Cancer took him.

A short while later God sent a New Love James Paul Browning. and they were married in 2001. Remaining together for 24 years until she took her last breath.

She was also blessed to gain his three precious daughters. She told the youngest Laura she would never try to take the place of their mother. But she would love them as her own, if they would let her. Mom never failed to show her love to all she knew.

Often known for her delicious Pound Cakes she would bake for anyone in need in the community.

She was a dedicated member of Nowlings Chapel Free Will Church and would be there still if she had been able to attend. She loved her church family and her Pastor and his family.

She often talked about how much she missed her family since she was the last one to go, especially her sister Marie, recently gone home herself.

Mom no doubt preached her own funeral; and will always be remembered for her Love for Jesus and her family and all who knew her.

Mom although we will miss you each day, we are all at peace knowing that you are finally at Home with your family and most of all with your Sweet Jesus.

Preceding Mom in going home was her Precious Grandma Poe Morris, Father Floyd Stamey, Mother Linnie Mace Stamey, her husband of forty-three years Pete Henry Tallent and late husband Paul Cornett, her daughter Brenda Tallent Hunt, Son in law Pastor Steve Chapman, Daughter in law Sherry Tallent. Her siblings, Brothers McDonald Stamey, Elmer Stamey, Melvin Stamey, Ellis Stamey, Sisters Artie Clark and Marie Williams.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Husband James Paul Browning and Three daughters Glenda (Rev. Mike Wakefield), Janie Browning and Laura Thomas, her four Children Gary Tallent, Debbie (Pastor Douglas) Mathis, Rhonda (Preacher Tony) Gosnell, Jeffery (Janet) Tallent. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Misty Todd (Rev. Chris), Andy Mathis (Katie), Jamie Hunt (Melanie), Jennifer Street (Pastor Kevin), Kayla Tallent, Beau Tallent, T.J Gosnell, and Daniel Gosnell (Cat); Great Grandchildren: Gloria Harvalis, Emmit Todd, Emma Kate Mathis, Camden Mathis, Ashley Vance, Trevor Webb, Luke Street, Toby Street, Linley Street, Dallas Street, Delavon More, Buck and Hawk Ivy, and Rylee Hunt; Step Grandchildren: Traci Wakefield, Talon Wakefield, Daniel Wakefield, Abel Wakefield Grace Warren, Cassie Gabriel and Cameron Thomas; Step Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn, Logan, Dylan, Luke, Carter, Zoey, Clara, Gwen and Elinor; and great-great-grandchild, Truett Street.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2025 at Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Darvy Hensley and Rev. Doug Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake James Community Church Cemetery with scripture reading and prayer performed by Tony Gosnell.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice VIA Health Partners for helping us through this difficult time. We also wish to thank Nowlings Chapel and all of the members and Pastor Darvy Hensley for their loving care and Prayers. Thank you Patrice, Lisa and Amy for helping care for mom. We also wish to thank our Friends and family for everything they have shared and for attending the celebration service today.

Rest in Peace our Dear Sweet Mother In Jesus arms. May you jump for joy at your amazing Home Coming. WE WILLALWAYS LOVE YOU AND WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.
